About the Directors

Mrs. Hubbard is so excited to be teaching in the Chatfield Area! Originally from the East Coast, she has taught choir for over 20 years- and is proud to be a choir nerd! She studied vocal music education at the Ithaca School of Music and Northwestern University, focusing on jazz studies.

Mrs. Hubbard started her choral career in Connecticut where she was honored with the Peer Award and named Teacher of the Year for her district in 2009. She moved to Colorado in 2010 to bring her family together, teaching at Dunstan Middle School in Jeffco. Mrs. Hubbard is a mentor teacher and has won awards for her integrity, collaboration, and priority for valuing others. In addition, she proudly serves on the Jefferson County Middle School Music Advocacy Board.

Mrs. Hubbard has professionally sung in a variety of churches in both Connecticut and Colorado. She musically directed the youth choirs at Mile Hi Church in Lakewood and summer theater students at the Arvada Center. She has been the soprano section leader at Bethany Lutheran Church and sings in the professional choir Voces Cordis. She also sings in an acoustic pop duo and a garage band.

When teaching, Mrs. Hubbard believes there is no better tool than developing honest connections with her students. She teaches with passion, transparency, and humor. When she is not teaching, she enjoys oil painting, gardening, hanging out with friends and her husband Shawn, and spoiling her dogs.
